The second series of films on BMWFilms.com will feature the directing talents of John Woo (FACE/OFF), Tony Scott (TOP GUN) and Joe Carnahan (the upcoming WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES with Harrison Ford.)
Shorts from the directors will appear on the Web site starting in October. They will be executive produced by Tony Scott, Ridley Scott and Jules Daly via the Scotts' RSA USA Inc. banner.
Clive Owen (GOSFORD PARK) will reprise the role of The Driver in the films (VB, 6-10) and will chauffeur BMWs through a series of mysterious twists and turns where the cars emerge remarkably unscathed.
"I believe the combined experience and dynamic vision of the talented filmmakers involved will ensure that the quality of the films will remain exceptional," said Jim McDowell, VP of marketing for BMW of North America.
Five films were part of The Hire series, which premiered online last spring and featured directors including John Frankenheimer, Ang Lee and Guy Ritchie. The first series was executive produced by David Fincher (FIGHT CLUB) and his Anonymous Content banner.
The first five films were watched more than 13 million times, according to BMW. Ritchie's STAR, featuring wife Madonna, won the Video Premiere Award for best Internet video last year.
"THE HIRE is a concept that invites and challenges a director's imagination," Ridley Scott said. "It's great that we are able to partner with BMW on this series, which already has had such an effect on pop culture and has so heavily impacted the world of film and the Internet medium with its award-winning success."
Besides the films, the BMWFilms.com Web site includes information about the cars featured and biographies of the director. Viewers can watch the movies via the Internet browser of their choice or use BMWFilms' proprietary media player that includes more bells and whistles as well as BMW branding.
