In September, the WB hopes to begin its celeb reality show THE SURREAL WORLD. The concept calls for the show to follow eight pop-culture figures as they live and work together in the San Fernando Valley.
Brass Rings Productions has approached 40 celebrities (of Mr. T's status level, the producers stated) to move into a house and have their lives taped around the clock. The show was inspired by some recent Lipton Sizzle & Stir TV ads that paired such disparate celebrities as George Hamilton, Sally Jessy Raphael and Little Richard.
About the show, producer Mark Cronin said, "Our intent is to make the show feel like you're really watching a sitcom. Every episode there will be some story, very likely some activity or event that occurs in the house. It could be created by us, such as there's no dinner in the fridge, so they've got to go fishing."
